City of Northwood Ohio
A little About Us below
Live:
A home isn’t defined by the type of dwelling it is or by where it is located. What defines a home are the people who live there. And no matter what kind of home you want to live in or where you want it to be located, the City of Northwood, Ohio offers options for you to consider. Take our older, more established neighborhoods of Northwood for example. The homes in these neighborhoods include 1920’s bungalows and Tudors and roomy ranches built in the 50’s and 60’s. Tree lined streets set the scene for a relaxing Saturday afternoon walking the dog in the park or playing with the kids in the back yard. Close to parks, schools and shopping, Newer developments in the City of Northwood offer homes built in recent years with expansive lots and large rooms. If you have very specific needs in a home, you also have the option to build it exactly the way you want it in urban, suburban and rural locations. Love the idea of owning a home, but don’t want to deal with the upkeep of a big yard? Northwood’s condos and apartments may better suit your needs. Located convenient to shopping and cultural activities, Northwood’s condominium developments and apartment complexes might be a great fit for a first-time buyer or the resident that wants to downsize from a larger home.

Work:
It might be only a mile wide, but the City of Northwood is full of economic opportunity. Located in the middle of rapidly growing Wood County, Northwood, Ohio is only a few miles from the intersection of the Ohio Turnpike and I-75, a major crossroads to consumer and industrial markets. But that’s just the beginning. Several rails lines intersect in Northwood, providing easy access to local, state, national and international markets. And the City of Northwood is only minutes away from an international seaport, an inland port, an air cargo hub and an international airport. There are also more than 100 truck lines serving Northwood, Ohio and the area surrounding area. Northwood is a great place to grow your business, so come to the middle of it all. Come to Northwood.

Play:
When you need to play in Northwood, there’s no shortage of recreational and cultural opportunities. Within just a few miles of the City of Northwood you’ll find a world class museum, a top notch zoo, a minor league baseball field, a theatre and concert hall, and miles of unspoiled lake shore. The Toledo Museum of Art and the highly acclaimed Glass Pavilion are a short drive across the Veterans’ Glass City Skyway Bridge. The Museum features a staggering permanent collection and hosts special collections throughout the year. The Glass Pavilion hosts more than 5,000 works of art from ancient to contemporary times. TMA also offers classes in drawing, painting, ceramics, glass blowing and more. If you prefer live theatre and concerts, The Stranahan Theatre is just a few miles from the City of Northwood. The Stranahan Theatre brings theatrical, musical and comedic entertainment to the area. Northwood residents with a craving for Broadway don’t have to travel to New York City to see the shows of the Great White Way—past performances at the Stranahan include Spamalot, Kathy Griffin and Mama Mia! Sports play a huge part in the lives of many Northwood residents, so our proximity to The Toledo Mud Hens Stadium is a big plus. Just a short trip across the river, the Mud Hens, a farm team for the Detroit Tigers, play out their season from mid-April through the first weekend in September.
